Our History
Over our 44 years as an organization, we have expanded our work, guided by our ongoing commitment to educator well-being and belonging.
Oregon Well-Being Trust was originally founded in 1980 as OEA Choice Welfare Benefit Trust (or, OEA Choice Trust) to provide service-oriented, cost-effective, and comprehensive insurance benefit programs for education employees.
In 2009, we began our first grant benefits program, the Education Employee Well-Being Multi-Year Grant program. Our grants have expanded to include three separate funding streams serving well-being programs at every stage of development.
In 2012, we launched our first statewide School Employee Well-Being conference. That popular event was a highlight for many years.
Most recently, we hosted our first Regional Convening. Regional Convenings are daylong events hosted hosted in partnership with regional ESDs to bring well-being resources, skills, and connections to educators in every corner of our state.
Over the decades, our partnerships have expanded to include a broad
range of organizations committed to shifting culture and enhancing education employee well-being.
We have come a long way since offering insurance benefits, and we look forward to continuing to evolve in our ability to support Oregon’s public education employees.
